Advertorial – I’m continually struck by the lack of knowledge between the manufacturers of beauty products and the consumers. Do we know where ingredients are sourced or what they actually are? What ingredients are natural? Certified organic? Which ones are a toxic minefield? If you’ve not thought about harmful chemicals before, right now, reach for the nearest beauty product to you. How many words on the back of the ingredients list do you struggle to pronounce? We all strive to live a life of simplicity where we are healthy and vibrant. Isn’t it about time we applied this concept to our beauty products too?
If you are still here, nodding and feeling what I’m saying then let me introduce you to Enis, the owner of Haoma, a certified organic and vegan skincare company.
Who is the man behind Haoma?
Ladies and gentleman, meet Enis, the founder of Haoma. Inspired by the once forgotten beautiful recipes before industrialisation inspired the creation of Haoma. Enis felt inspired to create a certified organic and natural skincare company that didn’t contain synthetic ingredients. It was also important that the company brought choices for sustainability, well-being for the planet and beauty products that actually benefit the skin of those it’s being applied to.
What does Haoma mean?
Haoma is recorded as a mythical sacred plant in ancient Persian and Zoroastrian culture. Known as a magical plant that bestows essential vital qualities such as health, fertility and even immortality, Haoma is also often personified as a divinity.
What sets Haoma apart from other companies is that the ingredients used are certified organic and from pure plant ingredients. Haoma is proud to have created effective skincare that works and encourages others against the use of emulsifiers, preservatives and unsustainable materials. Each Haoma product is lovingly made by hand in small batches in the South East of England.
Within the product range of aromatherapy oils, deodorants, skincare, hand care, foot care, hair care and perfumes, Haoma prides themselves on never using the following ingredients within their products:
- Mineral oils
- Synthetic fragrances
- Methylisothiazolinone (MI)
- Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI)
- Propylene glycol
- Harsh foaming agents
- Irritating emulsifiers
- Synthetic fragrance
- DEA, TEA or PEGs
Why are natural products so important?
Back in 2016 I made the decision to only use natural beauty products. I was so done with seeing long, hard to read ingredients on the back of beauty products that I was unable to pronounce. After researching the common culprits, I was horrified to learn about how many toxic chemicals there are and how they are commonly used in beauty products. My next article on my blog is going to be about chemicals to avoid, since it’s a topic I feel so passionate about! In the meantime, if you’d like to learn more, take a read into the The Dirty Dozen.
One of the many things that attracted me to Haoma as a company is the fact that all of the products are natural and certified vegan by the Vegan Society. This means that the products are not tested on animals and do not contain any animal products. All of the Haoma products are ‘Certified Organic and Natural’ through COSMOS certification by Soil Association. You can be assured that all of the materials used as well as the production processes are strictly controlled and inspected regularly.
It’s so refreshing to find a beauty company that’s main ingredients are floral waters, essential oils, physical extractions of plants, plant oils and butters. Nothing else is added, making their beauty products the purest possible. Apart from the latin names of plants, which they legally have to list, you can actually pronounce all of the ingredients! Haoma do not use any emulsifiers or preservatives in their products either.
If you would like to find out what natural body and skincare really feels like, then read on below as I share my experience using three of Haoma’s products over the past two weeks.
Organic Purify and Rejuvenate Toner
With the environment in mind, the Purify and Radiance Toner is packaged in a glass bottle with a screw top, making it durable and great for travelling. My experience using toners from other beauty brands has not been positive. I was interested to see if this toner would be different and wouldn’t aggravate my dry skin, making it feel more dry and tight.
Upon opening the bottle you can immediately smell how beautiful the essential oils make this toner. Made with Witch Hazel, Geranium, Frankincense, Clary Sage and Cypress, you really do have to smell it, to appreciate the blend. These oils also work simultaneously to not only arouse your senses but promote skin elasticity too.
My skin loves this toner, as shown in the video above! I was pleasantly surprised at the leftover makeup it removed after I thought I’d removed it all. Using this makes me feel like I’m starting my skin with fresh base as well as providing it with moisture and radiance. I love that all of the ingredients in the toner are certified organic too! The hardest thing I experienced was not to go overboard when using it. The smell of toner is beautiful, so don’t be surprised if you feel the need to go over your skin again. 😉
Organic Night Mist
For a long time I’ve been searching for a room/pillow spray that doesn’t contain preservatives or nasty chemicals. I had almost given hope of finding one but then I found the Organic Night Mist. I was not surprised to learn that this product is one of Haoma’s best-sellers.
Containing organic essential oils, Clary Sage, Palmarosa and Ylang Ylang, this spray is perfect for spraying on your pillows, bedding and body. I also use this mist as a spritz for the bedroom. When I return home from work, I’ve been using a few sprays in my bedroom as well on my pillows. I turn on my himalayan salt lamp after so when I return the room not only feels peaceful but smells divine too!
No 1 Organic Eau de Parfum
The No1 Organic Eau de Parfum is Haoma’s signature blend. This perfume smells completely different from what you can buy from a store. There’s no chemical smell (obviously, because Haoma use natural ingredients) but a wonderful infusion smell of blended aromatherapy scents, making it floral and rich.
I work in a relatively small office and since wearing this perfume my colleagues have asked me a few times what perfume I’m wearing! They said they’ve never smelt a perfume like it and I would agree. It’s a beautiful scent which I’ve found lasts half a day before I need to spritz some more on my wrists or neck. In Haoma’s perfume range there is also available Frankincense and Myrrh and single note perfumes such as Lavender, Orange and Ylang Ylang.
I’m really looking forward to trying more of their products. Trying new skincare and beauty products should always be this exciting, it’s even more so when you know they are natural, organic and benefit your body and skin.
Haoma are currently providing customers with 20% with the code HAOMALAUNCH20 to celebrate their launch!
