If you are an avid browser on Instagram like me, you may have come across The Lovely Things. The Lovely Things is an independent vegan handbag company that creates beautiful and affordable animal-free handbags and accessories.
What’s the story of The Lovely Things and their vegan handbag collection?
After learning the horrors behind the leather industry, Monica launched The Lovely Things in late 2016. With her newfound knowledge, Monica decided to never wear animals for fashion and to never consume them again. Monica’s vision for The Lovely Things is to promote stylish and affordable cruelty-free fashion whilst raising awareness on animal cruelty.
For some time, I have admired Monica’s vegan handbag collection and I can now say I’m the proud owner of one! Let me tell you why I love my new Gabrielle Crossbody Bag.
This vegan handbag is every minimalist’s dream. Featuring a signature geometric flap detail on the front, a magnetic snap closure and silver hardware, it’s the perfect stylish companion for all seasons and a quality piece to transform your look from casual to chic.
I’ve found this handbag to be the perfect size to take all my daily essentials around with me, including my lipstick, purse, phone and sunglasses – with still plenty of room to spare! What I particularly love is handbags of this shape can sometimes feel too wide and bulky when wearing it over your shoulder, however this is the opposite and very practical for everyday use.
Now I’ve told you a bit about my beautiful new handbag, let me tell you what The Lovely Things , as a business have been working hard on this year.
Five innovative processes The Lovely Things have implemented into their business
Their proceeds go to a good cause
Every month, 5% of the proceeds go to animal charities or different animal organisations. The Lovely Things focuses on supporting young sanctuaries and charities, with the intent to increase the donations as the brand grows.
Their quality shows
Continuing to keep the companies high quality ethos, The Lovely Thing tries to incorporate environmentally friendly textiles in the creation of their handbags. In March 2019, The Lovely Things switched over to high quality PU (polyurethane) faux leather which is better for the environment. The new handbag collection now contain 100% cotton, replacing the synthetic polyester lining which was once used.
A company that cares
The Lovely Things cares about who makes their products and how they are made which is reflected in their accreditation. The new collection is manufactured ethically in Guangzhou city, China by an experienced team. The manufacturer has passed AI ethical audit, Sedex SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) and SGS Test.
Products arrive in style
The Lovely Things choose to avoid the use of plastic in their packaging. It’s the first time I’ve had such a fancy handbag delivered to me as it came with a dust bag! The dust bags are made with 100% cotton rather than synthetic materials. When not being used, the branded dust bag is super useful in making sure my bag stays looking new.
All of the products are affordable
No need to admire from afar! One of the things I admire most about The Lovely Things is the affordability. Not only is their quality never compromised, there is also a large range of shapes and sizes in different materials such as cork and polyurethane faux leather. With prices starting from £18 for a wallet holder and £40 for a handbag, there’s no reason you can’t own a beautifully crafted environmentally and ethical piece from The Lovely Things!
Pst, be sure to check out their outlet. The Lovely Things currently have handbags from £26!
Is there any vegan bags you would like me to review? I think I speak for most women, when I say there’s likely to be a handbag or two on their wish list!
